Global Eagle Entertainment Inc. was formed through the January 2013 business combination of blank-check company Global Eagle Acquisition Corp. with in-flight connectivity provider Row 44 and content distributor Advanced Inflight Alliance. The SPAC, sponsored by media executives Harry Sloan and Jeff Sagansky, completed its IPO in 2011 under the ticker EAGL, targeting the aviation media and connectivity sector. The February 2013 8-K filing marked the closing of that transaction. Global Eagle Entertainment subsequently traded on NASDAQ under the ticker ENT until the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2020.
