QuantumScape Corporation (NYSE: QS) reached public markets through a merger with Kensington Capital Acquisition Corp, a blank-check vehicle sponsored by Kensington Capital Partners that completed its initial public offering in 2020. Targeting the clean-energy and electric vehicle sector, the SPAC combined with QuantumScape, a Silicon Valley developer of solid-state lithium-metal battery technology backed by Volkswagen. The de-SPAC transaction closed in November 2020, listing the combined company on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker QS. QuantumScape has since continued advancing its solid-state battery platform toward commercial automotive production.
